Evaluation Question 1

In this question I am going to be discussing the ways in which our media product uses, develops and challenges forms and conventions of real media products.

The conventions of a music video are:
Lip syncing
Good costume and setting
Lighting

Locations of our music Video:
Park
School
Art rooms

The name of the artist and song appears at the beginning and end of the video. This is important as you need this to realise the artist and the name of the song.

Editing
Our music video is very effective as it uses many aspects of popular music videos. The editing within the video is very effective it goes with the overall beat of the song and makes the video stand out brilliantly. A music video with good editing is crucial, with good editing the song will flow and the viewer will not get bored of the music video. In reflection I feel that our finished video uses editing effectively and makes the song exciting to watch.Our group like listening to music and one of the members chose a song that he liked listening to and we subsequently used the song for our music video.

Locations
The locations in which we filmed are an effective aspect of the video, there are very little locations but we believe that using very little locations were good enough to be used. In many popular music videos the location  can determine whether or not the video is good. Depending on the genre of the song this would most likely determine what type of locations  will be used. Our music video couldn't have used better locations than we did I believe. In this aspect our music video can be seen to be using the conventions of a music video as an appropriate source of locations had been used.

Costume
In all music videos the costume used is always the aspect that is most effective. To have a good music video the costumes used within it have to fit the genre of music and the artist itself. For example Christina Aguilera's video "Dirrty" helped change her image. She was formally of the Mickey Mouse club, but through this video she was portrayed as a promiscuous and saucy woman. This video was the cause of a lot of controversy due to the fact that she was in the Mickey Mouse club. 

Lighting 
Lighting of our music video is another way in which it uses conventions of popular music videos. The lighting used in our music video is bright. It helps the singer stand out throughout the music video, this helps make the video effective. The use of good lighting in our music video helps make it work. A popular music video that uses lighting effectively and on purpose would be Example's Close Enemies music video. The lighting in this music video is dark which fits the genre of music that Example produces, the use of dark light can be seen to fit the name of the song and some of the lyrics. one Particular set of lyrics that fits the lighting used would be "you should keep your friends close by, but keep your enemies closer". The dark lighting shows how them lyrics are effectively used along with the lighting. If its dark you cant see so there fore can keep your enemies closer.
